Sundays River, Nqweba Dam at Graaff-Reinet Reservoir Sedimentation Study (2020)
Investigation of the historical reservoir sedimentation and possible mitigation measures, to increase the firm yield from the dam. Hydrological modelling of catchment sediment yield with future land use and climate change considered. Hydrological modelling of reservoir sedimentation and analysis of mitigation measures such as dredging to obtain a feasible long-term solution. Client: Lyners, Graaff-Reinet Economical Forum and Dr Beyers Naude Local Authority.
Zimbabwe Zambezi River at Deka River abstraction works upgrade study (2020)
Review of the existing river intakes. LLPS and settler which have been in operation for about 40 years for the consideration of upgrade to double in intake discharge required for cooling water at the Hwange Power Plant. Review of alternative intake locations and designs included river hydrodynamic modelling of flow and sediment transport patterns, sediment yield and mass balance calculations in the river, intake, LLPS and settler for current and future increased duty pump discharge capacity scenarios. Client: Bergstan Botswana and ZESA.
